Astrogon Brings Retrowave to the App Store

November 3, 2020Astrogon, a new mobile game by Kosmoon Studio, is bringing stylish retro vibes to iOS and Android. Released November 1st, 2020, Astrogon has a strong eighties presence, complete with neon aesthetics and a retrowave soundtrack to jam out to as you conquer each level. It is not often that a game in the app store catches the eye like this one, and I am not sure there are any quite like this.

Astrogon’s core idea is simple, yet it could lead to hours of mindless fun, especially when paired with a synth-heavy soundtrack. Gameplay largely involves maneuvring a square through different obstacles while collecting stars and trying not to touch anything that is the opposite color. Levels increase in difficulty as you go — and Astrogon keeps track of key metrics like time taken and stars collected, which adds replay value by giving you records to beat.

Astrogon allows players to create their own courses using a built-in level designer — these levels are available for other players to access and challenge the high score. Players can also browse popular courses, watch replays, and leave comments for other community members.

We are most excited about Astrogon’s soundtrack, which you can get a sneak peek of through the trailer below. Retrowave continues to make an impact on pop culture, and Astrogon shows that synching has potential beyond big movies and catchy commercials. Astrogon has a lot of promise; make sure to keep some headphones handy because you will want to play with the volume up. With the already sweet focus on retrowave and the retro aesthetic, we hope that, in time, Astrogon’s synth music selection will be made greater still.
