Covid Will Not Stop the New Year Celebrations

December 28, 2020 — Covid has changed a lot in the past year, affecting millions across the globe. While we are not quite out of the woods yet, 2021 promises to be a better year. Most people will be bringing in the New Year a little differently this year, but just because we can not dance shoulder to shoulder at a party does not mean the party is canceled. There are plenty of New Year’s Eve Parties happening online this year, and there is something for everyone.

If rap is your thing, Playboi Carti is headlining a virtual concert this year. The event will be free to stream via Twitch and boasts a variety of hip-hop acts. It is being billed as “a fusion of music, technology, and gaming,” and will be Carti’s first live performance since dropping his long-awaited Whole Lotta Red album.

Tomorrowland promises a highly entertaining New Year’s Eve celebration, and they already have a sneak peek of the setup. With acts like Armin Van Buuren and Martin Garrix, this is sure to be a fantastic show, even if you are unable to experience it in person.

You can get your K-Pop fix on New Year’s Eve, but you are going to need to buy a ticket. This is not just any K-Pop concert though, BTS — who had to cancel their 2020 tour — is in the lineup. Big Hit Entertainment’s end-of-year concert will also include other K-Pop sensations, such as Tomorrow X Together, Nu’Est, Gfriend.

Classic Rock

KISS has had about 100 farewell concerts, but they were planning their final, final farewell concert for 2020. Of course, nothing went as planned this year, so KISS is planning their allegedly last show to be a virtual New Year’s Eve event. Their last concert will have to actually stick at some point, so if you think this will be it, you can find more information here.

A Traditional New Year

It might not be the glamorous party it usually is, but New York’s Time Square is still dropping the ball. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like they plan on having any live shows, but the good news is they are taking the time to give people the Time Square experience. Their website does not have any information about the possibility of live performances, but what it does say is they will broadcast commercial-free live footage of the ball drop — along with behind-the-scenes stories from celebrities.

There will be New Year celebrations around the world no matter what the circumstances. It is a time to bring in the new and leave the past behind. Just because we are in unprecedented times does not mean the music and celebration should ultimately stop. The good news is that there is a New Year’s concert out there for everyone, and this year you can enjoy it in your pajamas.
